We are greeted in the Lobby of the forever charming Shearton Mirage by a staff member who has a genuine warm smile that instantly makes us feel at ease . She offers us a refreshing Sunrise mocktail while organising our luggage to our Lagoon room.
What we noticed when we first entered the Sheraton Mirage property is the shear size of this grand resort. With an 18 hole world class golf course, the largest pool in the Southern Hemisphere, you are in for an opulant adventure.
The Shearaton Mirage is great for Couples, families, a variety of functions and even the very romantic Wedding by the beach. The Shearton Mirage just might be the perfect location for a special wedding or celebration, wheather you are wanting a major extravagansa, or an intimate romantic exchange just for two.
The choice in experience makes the Shearton Mirage operating in a league of it's own.
With the grandur of the Skase period still apparent with some extrodinary antiuqe statues and paintings, we sometimes forget that we are in the middle of Tropical north Queensland. Yet what we experience is a low key, first class approach to serivce.
We stayed in the beautifully positioned Lagoon room, a fabulously located right on the pools edge.
The King size bed temps the weary of a holiday sleep-in that you enjoy with sheer comfort and space that allows you the privacy and quietness of a much smaller establishment.
We are inspired by the enticing options on the Cocktail menu, whilst thawing our Melbourne Winter bodies by the pool. Later getting inspired for a little exploring, we venture out onto the beach which is literally a few steps from the pool, onto the warm sand and the coconut trees.
Later we Tee off on the (Peter Thomson designed) 18 hole golf course. It is a buggy only course with its very own aquatic range that is utised with floating balls, the Mirage has thought of everything.
The Mirage counrty club is located over the road but is accessible from an under ground tunnel to make use of the 350 acres of tropical paradise. It offers not only the best Golf that Tropical North can provide but other quality facilities which include a gymnasium, tennis courts, a lap pool( should you tire of the largest pool in the southern hemisphere over the road) and you now can even have a game of croquet.
My stay leaves me with a feeling that this would be a perfect location for a family, or group of friends to come up and enjoy a celebration with a difference. A family reunion, or a 60th birthday. When thinking of having an extraordinary celebration look no further than the extraordinary Sheraton Mirage.
