This is the last year of the shuttle launches and tours have been arranged to either catch a shuttle launch or a Delta rocket launch while visiting the kennedy Space Centre in Orlando. Ever wanted to pilot a space shuttle? This is your last chance to see a shuttle launched and often we also catch a delta rocket launched as well as training as an astronaut and flying a shuttle simulator. Have lunch with an Astronaut? See John Glenn’s Gemini launch site? Have lunch under a real Saturn 5 Moon rocket? Visit the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington and touch the Apollo 11 slash down vehicle? See mars rovers at work?
If you are interested in space this is the tour for you, visiting 3 major sites significant in space travel in the USA. The Kennedy Space Centre at Cape Canaveral in Orlando Florida, where you meet a real astronaut, fly a shuttle simulator and spend 2 days touring the facilities. A quick plane flight to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington, here you can see the Wright Brothers plane or walk through Skylab and see the Enola Gay or the Concord, and more. Lastly visiting the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena California, the NASA centre for robotics and satellites, here you can talk to scientists and see how the Mars rovers were tested and view current video from them on Mars.
This small group tour is fully escorted and offers a full day at EPCOT in Disneyworld Orlando, Florida and Universal Studios in Los Angeles, California. The tour includes;11 nights superior accommodation plus breakfasts, all internal economy flights, taxes, transport to and from venues and airports, all entry fees, 2 group dinners and 1 lunch and more. Here is the full itinerary for your info.
Day 1. Fly from Melbourne to Los Angeles, bus to Holiday Inn Universal and free time to R&R.
Day 2. Early morning trip to Pasadena, to tour the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. See the full-scale Mars Rovers as they practice Mars movements. Half day tour of highlights of LA such as Rodeo Drive,
Hollywood, Labreatar pits. Griffith Park and if time to Santa Monica and Venice Beach.
Day 3. Bus to Universal Studios for the day with dinner at city walk.
Day 4. Flight from Los Angeles to Washington. Bus transfer to Holiday Inn capitol.
Day 5. Visit Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. Walk through Skylab, see a V2 rocket, stand under the Wright Brothers plane or touch some moon rock. Travel by Metro.
Day 6. Free time in Washington D.C. Visit many other Smithsonian museums, see the “Concord” or the “Enola Gay”, the White House, the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument and more.
Day 7. Flight from Washington to Orlando. Transfer to Marriot Village, Lake Buena Vista.
Day 8. Bus to EPCOT Centre at Disney World. See Future World and World Showcase with an evening laser and fireworks show “Illuminations”. Disneyworld lit up for Christmas.
Day 9. The launch of a shuttle or Delta rocket
Day 10. Free time in Orlando to relax. Outlet Shopping, Play golf, ride an air boat or see Magic Kingdom.
Day 11. Bus to Kennedy Space Centre for a half day Astronaut Training Experience, including photo with Astronaut, personalized graduation certificate and ATX polo shirt.
Day 12. Afternoon departure from Orlando for LAX then onto Australia.
Day 13. Crossing International Date Line.
Day 14.. Arrive Melbourne approx 11am.
